Austin Wedding Photographer 2013

Goodbye 2013. Hello 2014.

Needless to say, I have amazing clients. Thank you for trusting me and letting me into your lives.

2013 was an awesome year.  I have learned a lot, and my creative process has developed in many ways. If I could describe 2013 in one word, I think it would be ‘voice.’ My business voice, photography voice, editing voice, interacting style…simply finding confidence in my way of doing things.

I’ve also learned that it’s okay to be myself, and more importantly, let myself shine through my work. Sometimes I am quite and reserved, without a big smile on my face. I think my photos have reflected my “calm” and “quiet” personality more this year. While there are a million amazing things to share from a wedding or engagement, it’s the those calm and quiet moments that I’ve chosen to post on my blog most of the time. I believe love is indeed bright and smiley, but sometimes it’s not, and I enjoy showing the many styles of love. Of course, style and voice are an ongoing relationship in my work, and I’m excited to see where this journey leads me in 2014.

On another note, I’ve also learned that it’s equally important to pursue work that makes my clients happy, as well as work that resonates with me. When the two are intertwined,  it’s a magical thing. It helps me to love my craft, and there is a deep sense of accomplishment when I create work that serves both purposes. It’s kind of weird  when your hobby is your job and your job is your hobby because if you’re not careful, one gets lost. This year, I’ve been blessed with wonderful clients who trust me as an artist as well as someone documenting the beauty all around us in God’s creation. Thank you SO much to all my 2013 couples who have implicitly said, “Do your thing, we trust you.”

Happy new year!
